Peter Vanek was born on the fourteenth day of the fourth month 1977 in The Netherlands. One day he found a guitar, was taught some chords and sent on his way. At the age of twenty five, he started working on a stand up routine mixed with songs and had a lot of fun. He recorded a cd called “WatNouNee?!cd” and somehow came into contact with Jamie Watts. They started collaborating and Kilowatts & Vanek sparked into existence. Their music caught on quickly and before they knew it they got signed, which culminated in the album “RawQ”. Eventually, they found a warm American home for RawQ at Diffusion Records. In the meanwhile, Peter started working on solo material which ended up on the first ever Peter Vanek album called “Thin Air”, a mixture of singer songwritermusic and carefully constructed electronica. The album still needs that final touch before it is ready for release. That final touch had to be postponed because Peter decided to work on a new dutch stand up show called “Leegloper” while also finishing up on the secretive second Kilowatts & Vanek album called “Focus & Flow”. As a solo artist, Vanek continued working on more up tempo material slowly growing into what would eventually become the “Polaroids” EP, which was released in early 2008 through Summer Rain Recordings. At the moment, Peter Vanek is loving every second.

Every purchase of our music helps NextAid to raise funds for their pilot project, the building of an ecological community center and children’s residential village in Dennilton, South Africa. Now complete are 10 structures of the 25 slated for construction by summer 2010. The center will serve as a safe home for 50 children orphaned by AIDS, a multi-purpose center for the larger community, a hub for economic enterprise, and an example of innovative solutions for future projects throughout Africa.
