Since he was a child James has been around music, both parents were music teachers so he had a lot of exposure to classical music and even tried (and failed) to learn Violin, Piano and the awful (parents idea not his) recorder. In his early teens James bought an electric guitar, learnt how to use it, and now considers it his primary instrument. Although it does not feature in any of my music he has released, what he learnt with guitar taught him how to construct tunes. After a few years of messing with my guitar James got an excellent digital echo delay unit and used it to construct and layer loops, for him this was the first step into electronic music. When James was sixteen he got his first PC, within the first twenty four hours he had started to cut breaks on a very simple level layer up loop based tracks. That was about 12 years ago now but since then james has spent every spare moment working through producing early dance music, then moving onto Drum & Bass where he learnt beat programming. As time passed his music chilled to what you hear today. Although his music has changed a great deal, James still considers it a logical progression from his Drum & Bass days, and will from time to time knock out the odd bit of D&B. What you hear today is James using keyboards and other production tools in his home studio, he no longer use loops (well maybe once in a blue moon) He’s no sample snob, he just prefers to create his own distinct sound.

About Summer Rain Recordings

Summer Rain Recordings, established in the summer of 2007, is a record label with a difference. Every artist signed to the label donates a minimum of 5% of their royalties for every release to NextAid, or a charity of their choice, and we match their percentage donation from the label profits from the release. ioda, our distributor, also donate 25% of their fees for each of our releases to next aid too. As well as a fine selection of fresh new music from new artists, you will find guest releases from more established artists who wish to give something back in the form of royalty donations to charity. We are not about greedy profits, unfair contracts, fame and fortune, we are about excellent music, honesty, fairness, and giving something back to the world in which we live in.
