1982 : CD (compact disc) is introduced by Sony - 1st Album released.
1983 : world's first commercial broadcast automation audio compression system

Research alliances allow to invent a MPEG codec
1987 : The Fraunhofer Institut in Germany began research code-named EUREKA project EU147, Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB).
